Development of an office and service location

This area on the right bank of the Rhine was used for industrial purposes until 1993, after which it lay derelict. The preconditions to develop the site were established in 2010, when the manufacturing facilities were demolished and the site redeveloped. Aurelis had an area of approximately 50,000 square meters on Gummersbacher Strasse. We developed an attractive utilization concept on the site for offices and service providers.

We’re realizing our own building construction projects on two plots:
Since April 2015, we have been building the new University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in North Rhine-Westphalia. Together with a team of architects consisting of Heinle, Wischer und Partner as well as specialist planners and a project manager, we developed a draft design for a new construction that met all of the tenant’s requirements.

We transferred the building to the university in February 2017. Around 2,000 young people now study on a rental space of more than 11,000 square meters. The new building includes teaching rooms, offices for lecturers and administration, and a library and cafeteria. In addition, 300 underground parking spaces are available on two levels.

We’re developing the Equilo office building directly opposite – where Malteser Hilfsdienst will move in in summer 2017 with 400 employees.

Equilo was designed by Düsseldorf-based architectural practice slapa oberholz pszczulny (sop) as a square office complex with a large atrium area. The rental space amounts to around 10,000 square meters. Malteser Hilfsdienst has already purchased Equilo, moving into the property as its owner rather than a tenant.

Through our planning, we’ve contributed to a mix of uses for Deutzer Feld that is interesting from both an urban planning and an architectural perspective: the tenants of the B&B hotel and the KölnCubus office building already assumed occupancy in 2014. Cologne's full-time fire brigade is also establishing its new location on the plot.
