This area of 900,000 square meters was formerly a freight yard. Today it is being transformed into a mixed, high-quality, sustainable city district with extensive green spaces to be known as Europaviertel. We executed this development project in close collaboration with the City of Frankfurt and the two adjacent land owners, Messe Frankfurt and CA Immo.
Aurelis is developing the western part of this district, a site of 670,000 square meters. Once completed, approximately 13,000 people will live and work in the western section alone. The project focuses on the areas to the west of Emser Brücke:
The sub-districts are arranged around Europagarten, a park of 60,000 square meters with children’s play grounds and quiet zones, offering a high-quality recreational environment.
The main artery running through Europaviertel is Europa-Allee, a 60 meter wide boulevard, which is unique for Frankfurt and forms the main connection to the city center. Aurelis is financing and realizing the development of the site. This includes the construction of the tunnel under Europagarten. In addition, the district features an excellent, well-planned network of footpaths and cycle lanes.
This city district enjoys an outstanding reputation – which had an impact on the speed at which it sold. A total of 90 percent of the net building land had already been sold just four years after the development plan received official approval. On two plots, we are planning our own construction projects to erect buildings for commercial use (office space). For our office building The Brick we have already achieved building permission. Furthermore, we realized four residential buildings, including underground parking, on building plot 26. These properties have already been sold.
The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) awarded Europaviertel West its platinum sustainability certificate.
